Community policing committee formed in Gaibandha district in 16th July, 2007 with the view to establish a peaceful society driving out all kinds of violence, corruption, irregularities and evil deeds. At that time community policing was forming at different districts of north Bengal. As a part of this, community policing of Gaibandha was formed in cooperation with police personnel and civil society. It was formed with the direct initiative of former DIG of Rajshahi Division Mr. A.K.M Shahidul Haque and Police Super of Gaibandha Mr. Saleh Mohammad Tanveer. Under their supervision a community policing coordination committee formed consisting of 15 members.
